When We Meet Again

Friends Rocky and Amanda spent 3 years working on a writing project together that became incredibly popular online. So much so, they decided to publish a limited physical, printed edition of the book where all of the proceeds would be donated. In total, the project raised $2500 dollars, half of which was donated to the Mob Museum in Las Vegas and the other half to the Center in NYC, a huge LGBTQIA+ resource and community center that provides support and mutual aid to those in need. (The story includes subject matter about both the Mob in the 1940s and many characters featured are queer, so these charities were deemed appropriate by Rocky and Amanda).

I was responsible for the layout of the entire copy of the book, as well as design a spine and back cover that would compliment the original front illustration that was commissioned by the authors in the early stages of the fic, drawn by Jigokuhana. The inside is littered with illustrations done by Hunter Braly and it was so fun to include them while constructing the layout. It was important to both authors that the typeface and formatting reflect its original layout from Archive Of Our Own (a.k.a. AO3), where the project gained so much of its popularity.

This project is incredibly special to me, as it gave me an opportunity to collaborate with friends who were incredibly passionate about their work. It also gave me an opportunity to dip my toes into the book/publishing industry, an industry I’m very keen on entering!
